Kia Ora Koutou
Just a few things in relation to yesterdays closure of the school. When we have no power or expected to have no power for at least two hours we have to look at closing the school due to health and safety – our drinking water and water for the toilets are run by a pump and without power this can not happen. When we close the school after school starts we will ring all parents to inform them to ask if their child is going on the bus or to come and collect those who do not travel by bus. (This is why it is important to keep us up to date with your contact details). If your child usually travels by bus and we have not got in touch with you we will not just send them on the bus as we do not want them to go home to an empty house. We will keep them at school and keep on trying you to come and collect them. Yes we will post the closure on social media to inform you as well but as stated above we will not send children home without speaking to the parents. As the information came to us that it was a major power cut throughout all of Northland, Mr Barker-Principal of Kaeo School, made the decision to have the buses come early as he is the bus controller this term. If you have any further questions about this please feel free to get in touch with me.
This Sunday it is the Totara North Market at the Hall. We will have a small stall of items that the children have been making. The Market is on from 9.00am to 1.20pm. Come down and have a look.
Next week we will focus on the Kaeo Christmas parade. We are asking the children to be dressed in a National Costume of a country or as an animal. We have some masks and costumes here if they need one. We are all sharing our resources.
The Cultural Festival – lots more photos and videos are on our Facebook Page.
