Kia Ora Koutou
Thank you to all of you who came to our Meet the Teacher Evening last week. This evening is a great time just to touch base and review what happens here at Totara North School and a simple introduction for those new families.
One point that I was really enforcing to all was that we are in a partnership regarding your child’s/children’s learning and well being. Part of that partnership is communication – both ways. We endeavour to let you know what is happening through our newsletter, website, facebook, Skool Loop app and the text messaging service. If you wish to speak to us regarding your child please free to ring or drop in and see us. However do remember sometimes it is not convenient so you may need to make an appointment.
Today we had vistors in the School from Kea Kids News. They were here to interview a few of our tamariki regarding the drought. Lucky, a Year 6 girl, was the reporter/interviewer who spent some time with the children in the playground at lunchtime and then started interviewing after that. On Monday she was down in the South Island interviewing children who were in the floods there – weather from one extreme to the other and from the bottom to the top of New Zealand. Kea Kids News is funded by New Zealand on Air and My Stuff. They are trying to encourage young people to be aware about the Current Events that are happening around them through a young person eyes. So ….thank you Lucky, Zac, Jake and Chelsie for visiting our school.
