Kia Ora Koutou

Wow what a awesome past two weeks we have had.

We were able to have our beach trip last Thursday.  Unfortunately the wind was blowing straight in at Mahinepua so we relocated to Tauranga Bay.  The children had a great time swimming, making sandcastles and having birthday cake as it was Eko’s birthday.

Last weekend Izzy, Millie, Lauaki, Axel and Rob Toren were our representatives in the Great Whangaroa KiwiCan Raft Race.  We finished fourth but we won the Supreme Award- Displaying all the Kiwi Can Values.  This was the first time this Award has been given.  We received a beautiful carved wooden trophy and the rowers got a few goodies. Thank you to all of you that also came to the event and supported the rowers.

This week we had a sample taste of the Healthy School Lunches and the tamariki were treated to Cheeseburgers and carrots.

On Wednesday we had a visit from MORE FM thanks to Karina (Blake’s Mum) sending in an email asking them to visit our awesome school.  Jack and Flash arrived with Eric Rush plus Emma (production crew person).  Toast couldn’t make it but he sent up a video that he made that morning showing the children around the radio station.  Jack and Flash talked to the tamariki about their jobs and then asked to children some questions.  These were recorded and yesterday they were aired on the radio during the Kids World section.  A copy of what was aired will be sent to me and I will be able to play it for those children who did not hear it. Eric talked to the tamariki about how Rugby has taken lots of different places around the world and also told a few historical stories about the area. He then gave all the tamariki a lunchbox filled of healthy goodies. Jack, Flash and Eric were bowled over with the tamariki and the school.
