Kia Ora Koutou
Firstly I would like to thank all of you for supporting us with your child’s learning during lockdown. Myself and the Staff were amazed with the capabilities of the children when using a digital device this time round. They are becoming quite competent. Of course there is nothing better than having the children learning at school and it was great to be back. I do feel for those colleagues and tamariki in Auckland who have been in lockdown for so long.
On returning to school we welcomed some new tamariki and their whanau. Welcome Shyra Bruce and the Bruce whanau, Eva Hape and the Hape whanau. Also I would like to welcome Elijah Hobson and his whanau who joined us just before lockdown started. We hope that you will enjoy your time here at Totara North School.
Unfortunately due to the pandemic we have had some cancellations and postponements – The winter sports hosted by Matauri has been cancelled, along with the Peria Cross Country. The Wonderland Glow Show has been postponed until November. It is a shame that these cancellations happen but unfortunately it is something that we will have to live with for a little while more as no one knows what is going to happen these days. We will just endeavour to make the tamariki feel happy and safe.
We have not forgotten about the Art Intensive that we were meant to have this term – we will be looking at suitable dates next term to hold this.
Many of you may be wondering about Camp this year. I am going to have some discussions with the Staff regarding this. An option could be that we look at having a couple of day trips out of the area rather than organizing a three day camp and then having to cancel it due to Covid. The day trips will be easier to reorganise if need be.
Finally as you can see on the ‘Dates To Remember’ we finish for the Term on Friday 01 October at 12.40pm. This means that the Kaeo bus (first bus) will leave at 12.40pm and the Kahoe (second) bus will leave at 1.40pm. Any other children are to picked up from school by 1.40pm.
