Newsletter 1 Term 1 – Friday 04 February 2022

Welcome back to School for 2022.  Let’s hope that this year brings lots of learning with no interruptions.  Thank you for your cooperation so far regarding the regulations around Covid-19 that we have to follow.  The Senior Class have to wear masks when inside the class and we have been making sure that they do many activities as possible outside to have a break from mask wearing.

Welcome to a couple of new families to Totara North School –  Lucian-Karter Rikona and mum Darlene plus Olivia Everitt and mum Anna and dad Dean.

This term the childrens’ study will be focussed on Pests in New Zealand – how they arrived, what is extinct and what is still here.  We are working with our Enviro Schools faciliator, Morag, with this topic and also we are looking at how we can achieve a Silver Award as an Enviro School.

The Life Education Van will be visiting us in Wewk 3 and we will walk down to the Hall to participate in the lessons.

The news that the children are very excited about is that we have a time slot booked on a Wednesday afternoon from 1.10-1.55pm at the Whangaroa Community Pool.  The children will travel by car (staff have this covered).  Children under 7 years require a booster seat so please send one in with your child.  We do have a few here at school if someone forgets.     Children will need their togs and towel in a swim bag and the school will provide the bathing cap.  We will endeavour to go there every week.

On Wednesday 23 February we have our Information night at 5.30pm.  We will begin with a sausage sizzle and then discuss things that will be happening here at school plus staff will talk about the programme for the term/year.  Covid-19 regulations apply – masks and social distancing.
