Welcome back to all whanau – we have had all tamariki return. A special welcome to Reid and his whanau, Sharn and Luke, to our Totara North School family. We have had a couple of support staff changes and we welcome Tania Grace Teacher Aide for Term 2 and Tammy Sweetapple as our new Caretaker.
Once again we are in for a busy time. The tamariki are presently training for the annual Cross Country that we will be hosting on Friday 01 July. We will be sending out a notice a bit later on for help on the day and for home baking that we can sell on the day also.
This term our theme focus is a Literacy one – Traditional/Fairy Tales, Myths and Legends. We will be including some local stories also.
Later on this term you will receive a Mid Year Report on your child’s progress and then a form to complete for our 3 Way Conferences. For those who are new – you are able to book in a time during the day, when you can come in and have a 3-way conference about your child’s learning, with yourselves, your child and their teacher.
On Friday 24 June this year it is the first Public Holiday for Matariki and on the Thursday (23 June) there will be no school for the tamariki as we will be having a Teacher Only Day.
Finally I would like to just mention about morning tea food. We receive fruit for the tamariki and at times are donated fruit for them to eat at morning tea or sometimes a birthday cake is sent in to share.. If you wish to supply morning tea for your child could it please be limited to fruit or vegetables. I have just been noticing some packet food starting to creep back in.
