Newsletter 1 Term 4 – Friday 21 October 2022

Kia Ora Koutou

Welcome back to everyone. I hope you all had a great time with your tamariki over the last two weeks.  A special welcome to Summer-May and her whanau to Totara North School.

It is all go here again with Production rehearsals, Cultural Festival rehearsals and our Enviroschools reflections and celebrations.

This term I have booked in two times a week for the children to go swimming at the Whangaroa Community Pool.  The two days are Tuesday and Thursday and we will let the children and you know when we will start this.  As for our pool – it is still on going but there has been some progress with the MOE and I have emphasized to them that having a pool is top priority for the children, staff, parents and Board.

I received an email from Fulton Hogan this week and we have agreed to work with them on the beautifying of the area around the new Kaeo Bridge.  The children will be growing native plants from seeds so they can be planted in the landscaped part of the bridge area.   The seeds are going to be sourced locally and the process of growing will begin early next year.

Finally I would also just remind you that if you are supplying morning tea for your child that it is to be fruit, vegetables or natural popcorn.  Please leave the chips, cakes, biscuits etc for their afternoon tea when they get home.

BOOKCLUB ISSUE 7

This issue was given to the children earlier this week.  If you would like to order any items from the issue 7, please do so before before the 3rd of November.  Our preferred ordering method is using LOOP – or orders can be sent to the school office with the payment.  Christmas is just around the corner and there will be 1 last bookclub before school finishes this year.  A reminder if you are purchasing as gifts for your child, please let the office know,  and the order will be here for you to collect when it is delivered.  Otherwise all orders are sent home with your child.  Any queries please contact Sharon.
