Kia Ora Koutou
Welcome back to School for Term 2. As you know our major event this Term is the Fishing Competition 20-21 May. Tickets are out for sale in the Community – BP Kaeo, Farm and Fuel-Kaeo and Coopers Beach Sports & Tackle-Mangonui. It’s a great event for the family and after not being able to have it for a few years we are so looking forward to it. Thanks to those who have sent in brown paper bags – we need heaps of these for on the weigh in and prizegiving day (Sunday).
Last Friday the Year 4-6 tamariki had an awesome day up in Taipa as part of the Enviroschools Encounter Programme. They learnt about boat/fishing safety, pests in our waters, gathering data about what sealife is in our waters (even tasted kina!) and used what is on the beach to create a piece of sand artwork.
Another major event this term, which the tamariki are training for at the moment, is the Inter School Cross Country that we host. Fingers crossed our proposed date of Friday 16 June will go ahead and the weather is favorable for us.
On Friday 02 June we will be having a Teacher Only Day where the staff will be going to Kaitaia Intermediate to discuss with other schools the Curriculum Refresh Document. This is the Friday before King’s Birthday weekend so this will mean a four day weekend for you all.
Finally just a few little reminders-
Morning Tea- we do supply fruit or yoghurt but if tamariki wish to bring their own please ensure that it is fruit, nuts, museli bars – not chips or other packaged snack food.
If you child is going to be away please use the Skool Loop app, or website to register an absence, email me directly or ring the school and leave a message if phone is unattended before 9.30am. Please do not text me on my personal phone as the service is not great and sometimes texts do not come through until late in the afternoon.
Tamariki should have their Kids Can jacket in their bags as this is the term for wet weather. For the new pupils I am waiting for their jackets to arrive so until then have a jacket packed in their bag too.
